As you can see below, Jean is just looking and cutting- there is no shadow or tracing.  She simply looks at the girl's profile and cuts what she sees.  This process takes only 5-10 minutes, as Jean has been practicing for many years.

We create our silhouettes using a trained artistic eye, delicate scissors, and fine black paper.

We Do Not use a shadow or tracing method to create our silhouettes.
